MYEA D.C. Trip 2018

Thank You!

The Maine Youth Environmental Association would like to formally thank you all for the support and donations that made this trip possible! In the coming days, we will be sending out a video we created about our trip and we will also be posting it to our website. The video will not begin to describe the gratitude we have for everyone who made this trip possible but hopefully it will be a start.

The time has come to unveil the MYEA D.C. Trip video. This once-in-a-lifetime trip to Washington D.C. was made possible by the organizations, friends, families, and supporters who have not only helped us with this trip but have allowed us to grow and prosper as we create change in our communities.

Citizens Climate Lobby:

Citizens’ Climate Lobby (CCL) is a non-profit, nonpartisan, grassroots advocacy organization focused on national policies to address climate change. By building upon shared values rather than partisan divides, and empowering our supporters to work in keeping with the concerns of their local communities, we work towards the adoption of fair, effective, and sustainable climate change solutions.

With 494 active chapters worldwide, CCL has been instrumental in creating real political change concerning climate, with most of their efforts in creating a national fee on carbon released at the source, with the Carbon Fee and Dividend Legislation (More info about CCL and thier work: https://citizensclimatelobby.org/about-ccl/accomplishments/)

Carbon Fee & Dividend:

Carbon Fee and Dividend legislation (CF&D) is a national legislation that puts a fee on the amount of carbon dioxide in fossil fuels. This fee is assessed at the source of the fuel: at the mine, well, or port of entry. The fee starts out low and increases annually in a predictable manner until we reach a safe level of emissions. The fee is collected exclusively at the first point of sale, and 100 percent of the revenues are reimbursed directly to all American households, shielding them from the financial impact of the transition to a clean energy economy.

CCL has lobbied 400+ senators & members of congress about CF&D bi-annually over the past 5 years. Addressing carbon emissions at this scale takes a massive efforts over a long period of time, but CCL is dedicated to creating a realistic solution to this huge issue.
